Alone but supported: A qualitative study on the HIV self testing app

The WHO has recommended HIV self-testing (HIVST) as an alternative to conventional facility based testing. HIVST is a process in which a person, often in private, collects his or her own specimen (oral fluid or blood) and performs and interprets their test.

This qualitative study used an ethnographic approach, which involved spending time with the people using and implementing the app-based HIVST strategy, observing their practices and experiences, and describing the world from their standpoint. Read in more detail in this attached paper.
