Please see this clinical validation study conducted in Zambia that uses an AI model using deep learning to detect referable and vision-threatening diabetic retinopathy. Additionally, this AI system could help to detect the systemic risk factors related to diabetic retinopathy, but with the ability to interpret the data more quickly than human graders.
