We don’t hear much about community engagement in diagnostic research, and this paper by Erica Lessem and Stacey Hannah is one of the few that I have seen on this issue:
This is an interesting read, we have recently been challenged (PhD students and postdocs funded by the African Academy of Sciences) to engage with communities aligned to our research. l will be engaging HIV-infected adolescents on TB/HIV and hope to share lessons learnt along the way. Would be keen to hear similar experiences from people who have worked on community engagement projects.
