[Course announcement] Diego Zallocco – 6th Course on Molecular Diagnosis of Drug-Resistant TB

Dear All,

We are excited to announce that registration for the Diego Zallocco – 6th Course on Molecular Diagnosis of Drug-Resistant TB is now OPEN

This eight-day course focuses on developing knowledge and skills needed for successful implementation and optimal utilization of sequencing technologies for Drug-Resistant TB detection.

Participants will explore various aspects, from theory to practice, of all techniques currently endorsed by WHO for the rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis and detection of antibiotic resistance, as well as advanced molecular innovations (Next Generation Sequencing). The international environment will foster experience sharing among participants and experienced course facilitators.

Context of Training

  1. WHO-endorsed molecular tools
  2. Interpretation of discrepancies between molecular and phenotypic tools
  3. Basics on sequencing technology for Drug Resistance detection and epidemiological studies
  4. Future perspectives in TB molecular diagnostics
  5. Use of molecular tools for DR surveillance purposes

Target audience :
This course is designed for individuals with a strong molecular biology background and responsible for planning and implementing molecular technologies (including sequencing) at the national or sub-national level.
They might be National TB Program managers and National Reference Lab managers; researchers, students, trainees, fellows and academics involved in TB diagnostics research; product manufacturers and public health implementers.

Participant selection:
Selection of participants will be made on the basis of their professional background and on the importance of the course for their own work. To all participants is therefore asked to have a strong experience in the field of molecular biology. It is fundamental that participants share their field experience. The practical sessions will mostly focus on Next Generation Sequencing, while for conventional molecular tests (Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra and Line Probe Assays) will focus on troubleshooting and common issues in middle-low resource settings. We really welcome clinicians dealing with TB molecular tests in the field.

Application:
To apply please use the application form available at the following website: https://www.formpl.us/form/295776001
