Please see this recent study conducted in Malawi and Mozambique evaluating the diagnostic value of urine LAM in HIV positive ambulatory patients with CD4 counts < 200 cells/uL. The findings of this study suggests that urine LAM is useful in a broader population than what it is currently recommended for, and can be expanded for use in patients who are less severely immunocompromised.
