TAG launches new Activist's Guides to TB Diagnostic Tools & Treatment for Drug-Resistant TB

Treatment Action Group is excited to announce the launch of two new Activist’s Guides: An Activist’s Guide to Tuberculosis Diagnostic Tools; and An Activist’s Guide to Treatment for Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis.

An Activist’s Guide to Tuberculosis Diagnostic Tools, details the latest WHO recommendations, the array of available TB diagnostic tools, and how these tools should be optimally used in country programs, including to support TB screening and diagnosis among special populations such as children, people with extrapulmonary TB, and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

Our guide provides activists with what they need to know to advocate for access to TB diagnostic testing at the highest standard of care, and suggests ways that activists can take action to ensure that all people at risk of TB receive quality TB diagnostic testing, an essential step toward ensuring that all people with TB receive effective treatment and are ultimately cured of TB.

An Activist’s Guide to Treatment for Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis, details the latest WHO guidance and other important information about the new global standard of care for drug-resistant TB, and provides messaging and strategies activists can use to advocate for improved access to WHO-recommended regimens and the new and repurposed medicines contained therein.

Our guide unpacks the latest WHO guidelines and supporting evidence bases, and breaks down what activists and communities affected by drug-resistant TB need to know to take action, overcome resistance, and hold governments and other actors accountable for ensuring equitable access to the best available standard of care for drug-resistant TB.
